Do I need a new SIM card for 5G?
Yes, 5G networks require a 5G-compatible SIM card to authenticate on the network. If you currently have a 4G SIM, you can swap it for a 5G SIM at our Al Waab office or request one via the app.
Is 5G coverage available in my area?
5G coverage is rapidly expanding across Doha and major municipalities. We have detailed maps showing signal strength and availability. Check the coverage map here.
Will 5G drain my battery faster?
While 5G modems can consume more power than 4G, modern smartphones released after 2024 are highly optimized. Devices intelligently switch between 4G and 5G based on your usage to preserve battery life.
Can I use my existing 4G plan?
Most existing 4G plans are backward compatible with 5G, but to access true 5G speeds and high-data allowances, we recommend upgrading to one of our dedicated 5G Max plans.
How do I know if my phone is 5G ready?
Most flagship phones from the last three years support 5G. Look for the "5G" icon in your status bar when in a coverage area, or check your device settings under "Mobile Networks" for "5G" options.
Are there extra charges for 5G?
Access to the 5G network is included in our current 5G-enabled plans. There are no hidden "access fees." However, high-bandwidth usage on 5G may lead to faster data depletion on capped plans.
